Meaty Mindfulness

Thanksgiving calls for a particular main course during the holiday feast, is a nice cooked turkey.

However, Thanksgiving is also about kindness. If you want to kill two birds with one stone, purchase a turkey from the Cy Fall’s annual smoked turkey fundraiser.

The fundraiser is used to raise money for an experimental therapy for a former Cy Falls student, Kayla Goldwitz, that was paralysed shortly following her graduation in 2013.

“The smoked turkey fundraiser is a way the Falls community helps Kayla every year,” Deborah “Renee” Mullen said. “They are delicious, come fully cooked and ready to just heat and eat on Thanksgiving.”

The turkeys come from Mo’s BBQ in Humble, Texas, owned by a former Cy Falls family and  range anywhere from 10 to 12 pounds and are $60 each.

You can order each year through the following link https://tinyurl.com/kgoldwitz

“If you don’t need a turkey, you can go to the link and have the option of making a donation in any amount you like,” Mullen said.

Goldwitz is also developing, with the help of her friends, a project called Project TEXcessible, to build a wheelchair accessible beach in Galveston.
