Cypress Falls freshman Melony Turcios competed in the district-wide Take Care of Your Tech design challenge in October 2025. On December 9, the district announced the winners of the challenge. Out of forty school-wide entries, Turcios’ won in favor of the district.
“It was a challenge provided by the district,” Turcios said. “You had to make a flyer or a poster stating how you could take care of your technology at school.”
Each participant had to design a creative poster or flyer – something that could inform other students in their school, or even the district as a whole, on ways to take better care of their technology.
“It was important to me because it could help teach students proper ways on how to take care of school property,” Turcios said.
All students should have responsible methods for taking care of their technology at school, and her design helps them in that way.
“I submitted a flyer stating three ways the student could take care of their technology,” Turcios said. “I was thinking of colors that stood out and using bold words.”
The contest encouraged the participants to dip into their creative nature, forcing them to make their own design.
Cypress Falls teacher Mrs. Natalie Rodriguez is very proud of Turcios. “I think it’s a great accomplishment for her to be able to use skills outside of the school.” Rodriguez said.
Cypress Falls has thousands of talented and creative students, and Melony Turcios is one of many. Melony’s hard work paid off and is bound to pay dividends in the future.
