Cypress Falls has produced greatness throughout its history; whether it’s been highly recruited football players, ivy league bound students, or highly successful individuals. Evan Wessel, a sophomore at Cypress Falls High School is on the path to being one of these great students.
Wessel has grown a passion for music since being at Cypress Falls, becoming a crucial part of the school’s marching band, and building a sense of community among his peers.
“I really like the community, I think we have a strong sense of togetherness,” Wessel said.
His love for music originally started in middle school whenever he started playing the euphonium, however decided to switch to clarinet.
“I played the euphonium, but eventually switched because I was bored,” Wessel said.
His passion for music has ultimately transformed into a love for performance.
“I really enjoy marching band because I love performing,” Wessel said.
His passion in music has really been demonstrated through his motivation to become better and better everyday. His ultimate goal? To help out others just like his mentor Dirk has.
“To keep good grades and do well in school. I want to keep improving at my instrument and helping out others just like my biggest inspiration, Dirk, did.” Wessel said.
His path so far has been shown through the leadership role he has acquired as just a sophomore, becoming a clarinet section leader.
“My biggest accomplishment in marching band is becoming one of the clarinet section leaders,” Wessel said.
His goal of helping others will eventually be done by becoming a music teacher, which he plans to pursue after graduating.
“I do plan to continue marching band and I want to become a music teacher after high school.” Wessel said. “Because I like music now, I want to continue doing it.”
While Wessel is just a sophomore; his hard work is bound to pay off. Already becoming a critical part of such an important organization at Cypress Falls, it’s clear that he will be successful in whatever avenue he intends to pursue both in the future and in the current.
